Botswana’s safaris are not only thrilling but also safe, especially when led by Kwando’s experienced guides and trackers. The country’s tourism industry is well-regulated, with a strong focus on guest safety and environmental conservation. Botswana is a very peaceful country.

After your international flights (via Airlink or Air Botswana) guests can access the camps from Maun, Kasane, or Victoria Falls. While some camps are accessible by vehicle, the only practical way to reach many is by light aircraft. What fun! You’ll most likely get to a Kwando camp using a light aircraft transfer with Moremi Air. All flights have a strict baggage weight restriction of 20kgs (including limited hand luggage) per guest in soft bags.

A concession is a right to use land or other property for a specified purpose and is granted by a government or other controlling body. In our case, Kwando works closely with the government of Botswana to safeguard a designated wilderness area after a meticulous tender process. We went to immense lengths to prove our suitability as environmentally-conscious and empowering custodians. Concessions are only granted by lease after we are proven to comply with strict environmental and employment standards. How does that benefit our guests? Uncrowded sightings, off-road tracking and thrilling night drives!

Helicopters are available for charter when staying in camp for scenic ‘hops’, which offer spectacular aerial photographs and add a new dimension to your safari experience! Early booking for helicopter transfers is essential.

A typical day includes an early morning game drive, midday relaxation at the camp, and an afternoon or evening game drive, with opportunities for boat cruises or bush walks depending on the location.

Essential items include neutral-coloured clothing, comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera. Warm layers are recommended for early mornings and evenings.

This is a great piece of equipment and will contribute hugely to your safari experience. A specialist birder would likely choose 10x magnification, while a smaller 8x magnification would be sufficient for general wildlife viewing.

We offer a full range of safari activities across our portfolio of camps. Game drives are the cornerstone of any safari, especially in Botswana’s private concessions, where we can off-road at night. Our Water Activities (seasonal in some camps) and Walking Activities give you a chance to see a different side of nature. But also remember to enjoy a lie-in or stay in camp for a sundowner — if you can deal with the FOMO! 

Yes. We offer an all-inclusive stay and our rates include all game-viewing activities. Our rates exclude helicopter activities. 

A mokoro ride is a unique experience in the Okavango Delta. Guests glide through the waterways in a traditional dugout canoe, observing wildlife up close from the water.
